NanoSpy, Inc. is an Iowa corporation that was founded in 2017 to establish the new state-of-the-art in diagnostic testing by introducing nanoscale biomedical engineering into biosensor platforms.

Our Team

Carmen Gomes, PhD
Chief Research Officer

Carmen has her Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering. She is an Associate Professor in the ISU Department of Mechanical Engineering. Carmen's experience is in food processing engineering to develop effective solutions for food safety testing.  She is responsible for the detection chemistry, bacteria maintenance, research design and performance testing, and managing all outside collaborations to develop the rapid biosensor system.

Jonathan Claussen, PhD
Chief Scientific Officer

Jonathan has his Ph.D. in Biological Engineering.  He is an Associate Professor in the ISU Department of Mechanical Engineering. Jonathan's experience is in developing the science and technology that interfaces biology and surface chemistry with nanostructured materials for in-field detection and diagnostic strategies. He develops the biosensor platform and the detection package used in prototyping and testing the rapid biosensor system.

Darin Heisterkamp, MIM
President

Darin has a master's degree in international business management and commercialization experience in startups and small companies in notably competitive high-tech sectors. He was a key contributor to revenue growth reaching $100M+ in these companies, winning sales in over 130 countries. Darin is responsible for business operations and all commercial aspects of marketing, sales, and business development to bring NanoSpy technology to market.
